Both alinea Online and the alinea application for Windows can be used to
read aloud PDFs, make notes on them as if a paper copy, and even import
their contents into the word prediction facility (Windows application only).

Books that are free have reached the end of their Australian, UK or US
copyright protected period, so can be accessed free of charge depending on
where you live.
