This is a photograph taken in a school library. In the foreground to the right is a teenager sitting at a very small desk with a tablet device in one hand and a set of blue headphones around his neck. He has dark hair and is smiling directly at the camera. Moving backwards, the photograph loses focus but shows a blonde haired girl roughly of ten years old. She has white headphones around her neck and along with a long haired lady sat next to her. Behind them is an increasingly less focused set of two bookcases. End of description.

New to the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland, Lexima's alinea Suite uses installed SAPI5 text-to-speech voices for Windows to read aloud documents, PDFs, and offers very robust word prediction that works alongside many Windows applications to make writing documents, e-mails, etc a much easier task, both for dyslexic people, and people who face physical difficulties with keyboard use, because of cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, and other physical impairments.

The dictionary application is accessible directly from both alinea Suite's PDF application, and from the word prediction menu. Our Springboard PC-1 keyguard alternative keyboard is a great option for many people who need word prediction software due to physical impairments.

Unlike other PDF reading and annotation applications for dyslexic people, alinea Suite's PDF application does not convert files to a different format, so even after sticky notes, arrows, margin notes etc, have been added, a PDF can still be opened in Adobe Acrobat and other PDF viewing applications.

As alinea Suite uses SAPI 5 voices that have been installed in Windows, our 1, 3, 4 and 5 year individual user licences can be purchased as a product bundle with one English language voice for just GBP 5.00 extra!

For times when you cannot use your own Windows computer, the great thing about alinea Suite is that the alinea Online cloud application means that you can write and read any document or read PDF using pre-installed Nuance text-to-speech voices! This makes alinea Suite a great choice for anybody studying or working in different locations.

Any internet connected computer (Windows, macOS, or Linux) which has the Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge browser installed can be used to login to the alinea Online cloud application.

A text-to-speech voice is like a font - different voices suit different people when reading PDF books, articles etc. For people who wish to use alinea Suite's word prediction application for AAC / communication purposes, the choice of voice is as equally important.
